Saving Little Hearts will be hosting a free congenital heart defect family symposium June 28, 2008 at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. The symposium is completely free to all families. While the parents are in a separate room attending the symposium, there will be a room for children potty trained children and a separate room for toddlers (please bring a mat or pack and play for your child's nap). 

You are welcome to bring a video camera and tripod if you want to record any/all of the speakers.

Current topics for the symposium are:

• 9:00-9:45am "I want to quarterback the Titans, can I?" by Dr. Michael Liske

• 10:00-10:45am Single Ventricle Repairs by Dr. David Bichell

• 11:00-11:45am Will it happen again? Genetic Counseling for Families with Congenital Heart Defects by Martha E. Dudek, MS, CGC

• 1:00-1:45pm Growing up to Adult Congenital by Dr. Larry Markham

• 2:00-2:45pm Gastro-Intestinal Issues and CHD by Dr. Kent Williams

• 3:00-3:45pm Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy for Heart Kids by Judi Smerilson MPT, Gwen Provo-Bell SLP-CCC, and Sarah Wilson, M.S., OTR/L

• 6:00-8:00pm Picnic at Fannie Mae Dees Park

In addition to the symposium, Saving Little Hearts will be hosting our annual heart family picnic in Nashville, TN the evening of June 28, 2008.

HOTEL INFO: Holiday Inn (near Vanderbilt) is offering rooms for the symposium for $109.00 plus taxes per night. This offer is valid for June 27, 2008 and June 28, 2008. You make take advantage of this offer before June 10th by calling 615-327-4707 and asking for the Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital room block rate. You can also get rooms by going to a variety of travel sites. If going to a travel site, the closest hotels to Vanderbilt will be in the downtown area however there are some great hotels near the airport that won't add much travel time for you.
