Who did the surgery? Dr. William Norwood - created the Norwood Procedure

When was the surgery done? Norwood Procedure - 3 days old; Hemi Fontan - 6 months; Fontan - 1 year

What did you think of the hospital and staff? Excellent Hospital and Staff! Dr. Norwood is an excellent surgeon and leads in the field of pediatric cardiac surgery. Each of the procedures were done 2 to 2 1/2 hours. The nursing staff as well as the cardiology and anesthesiology staff are hand pick by Dr. Norwood. They are top notch, giving parents as much information and time as needed with each situation. The nursing staff is a huge comfort for the stresses associated with parenting ill children.

What did you think of the surgeon? We highly recommend Dr. Norwood, he is simply an excellent doctor is very humble. His rewards in heaven are certainly piling up!

Would you take your child back to this facility/surgeon? Yes, and we do for all types of things. Not only was our son a patient in the cardiology facility, but also the oncology facility. The two departments worked together extremely well, and continue to do so in our son's post operative care.

Any advice for others looking at this facility/surgeon? Our son has experienced an excellent quality of life and is now a healthy three year old. We believe this is due to the quality care he received at the this facility and due to the knowledge and expertise of Dr. Norwood. The facility takes care of the cardiac patient as well as the parents - providing large hospital rooms and meals for the parents to stay with the child through out the procedure. We were very comfortable there. The hospital and staff go out of their way to treat kids with CHDs. We highly recommend this hospital!
